While searching around on Amazon one day I stumbled onto this book, "Living the Creative Life" by Rice Freeman-Zachery." I figured what the heck, even if I wasn't all that inspired by the book it would still be interesting to hear about other artists.
I'm only 22 pages into the book and WHOA! I'm flooded with inspiring thoughts. It's almost as though, it's taken my current narrow mind thinking and widened my thought process on what "creativity" really is. Personally, I think that's truly amazing since I've felt for some time that if I wasn't actually, designing something on my computer, working in my sketchbook or working on an illustration, that I wasn't being creative. Those thoughts certainly are not constructive, which of course lead me to be creatively blocked, for quite some time now. I'm not saying that since I've read the 22 pages, I've been running around like a mad artist, paints flying, papers rustling, it's been more of an awakening. I've noticed things that I wouldn't normally stop to look at. So far I'm quite pleased with the results.
Yesterday while driving into the office, I noticed the morning sun. It was a gray foggy morning, but there was something so incredible about the sky. I looked at the horizon, and watched how the wide bands of multi-shades of blue lead upwards into the sky. The hazy sky engulfed the sun, and while it's glow was still muted there was something so serene about it. If I wasn't driving to the office I would have pulled over and snapped a photo. Anyway, that's just one example (for now).
